Leaving on a JAL Plane

 April 16, 2023

Good morning, Vancouver. We hate to eat and run, but we’ve got places to go.

Once more through the Vancouver Airport. The International Terminal is gorgeous.

Such interesting money here. Part of it is clear plastic.

Can you see the traffic on the rainy street below?

Eventually we board our JAL plane. The flight is ten and a half hours. We have a meal (dinner?) and then the lights are dimmed so we can pretend to get a good night’s sleep. About 2 hours before landing, the lights are turned up and another meal (breakfast?) is served.

We have chosen the Japanese-style meals. They are enchanting and delicious. The flight attendants are so attentive. They are doing what they can to make an extremely uncomfortable experience more enjoyable.

A kaiseki dinner (several small plates) is a lot of fun!
The red origami crane is a chopstick rest (and JAL logo).

The second half of the flight was marked by turbulence, but it was mostly quiet. Except for the guy who snored. At some point during the “night,” we crossed the International Date Line. We lost a day. The flight should have been shorter, in that case, right? Well, I am here to say it was NOT shorter.

Finally, it was time to turn up the lights, get up, and eat some more, before saying goodbye to our hard-working flight attendants.

The delicious “breakfast”

Today’s color is green tea.
