We enjoyed two relaxing days at sea. We were so relaxed we forgot to take any photos. These days went by very fast - literally. We had to turn our clocks forward one hour each night, so we had two days in a row that were only 23 hours long. Your body notices.
Who’s onboard? Mostly old white people. A lot of Canadians. A few Brits. We saw one baby and one teenager.
I met an Alaskan at Knitters and Natters. She seemed like she might belong to the “Under 50” cohort. A large percentage of the Under 50’s have tattoos.
A large percentage of everybody is overweight, especially the Under 50’s.
I would say 25 to 30% of the passengers waddle. Bad knees or bad hips or both. But they get around. Another 5% use walkers, scooters, or wheelchairs.
Some people are ill. One of our next-door neighbors here has been coughing ferociously since Day One. So far, people have been quiet and well-behaved. So has the sea.
It has been chilly - particularly at night. The cabins are not well-insulated. This 23-year-old ship was not designed for cold weather cruises. It’s like camping, when you have to get in your sleeping bag as soon as you are done with dinner because it’s too cold to sit around outside the tent. Well, maybe not that bad, but I only brought summer pajamas, so I get under the covers pretty quickly.
Wednesday was Formal Night and many people took that to mean “no t-shirts and no jeans” in the dining room, but anything else was okay. We saw three men in tuxedos, a small number of men with coat and tie, more men with coat but no tie, and quite a large number of men in Hawaiian shirts. Perhaps 5% of the women wore sparkly tops, around 50% looked like they were going out to a nice restaurant, and the rest looked like they had chosen not to participate in Formal Night.
We were invited to s special cocktail party to meet the officers on Thursday night. It was fun to be able to talk to some of the officers and find out where they come from and what they doo on the ship. We met Captain Cuculic but we didn’t have a chance to chat with him. I think he is trying to keep a low profile so he can stay healthy.

ReplyDeleteInteresting statistics. Don’t drink? That could warm you up. lol.
ReplyDeleteBecky says nice fabric. Sickness on cruise ships seems insurmountable.
