November 5, 2016 - We Love Tapas!

We had an outstanding time on the Tapas & Flamenco tour with Delia from We Love Tapas.  Our group of 6 included a family of four from England. Our first stop was Las Teresas, just around the corner from our hotel. We had gone here for lunch, not knowing that this would be a stop on tonight's tour. But we were happy to go again, and there was only a little bit of  overlap on the menu.
We got two little tables in the corner and started out with drinks and nibbles. I tried some "orange wine". It was very sweet, but it had a nice orange flavor, and I liked it.
In addition to Iberian ham, a specialty of Las Teresas, we had the following:
Manchego cheese, made from sheep's milk
Potato salad with tuna - simple, but extraordinary
Fresh anchovies - "boquerones"
Our next stop was the Museum of Flamenco Dance, where we had sangria. The one-hour show was incredible. The dancers and the guitarist performed with so much passion that it almost made me cry. It was totally captivating. The dancers moved so fast at times that their feet seemed to blur and it was hard to take photos.
After the show we walked down a street filled with small but bustling taverns and restaurants. We stopped at a place, whose name I did not notice, that was too crowded for us to go inside. It was too crowded for us to stand on the sidewalk in front of it. There was, however, a little bit of room on the sidewalk across the street. All of a sudden two women left and offered us their table. Our companions magically found four more chairs, and we were all set! We had more drinks and 4 more tapas. The spinach and chickpea dish reminded me of something you would eat in an Indian restaurant. Delia reminded us that the Gypsies, who were originally from India, contributed to the culture of Andalusia. We had something like steamed, salted lima beans that reminded me of edamame. I can't remember the other things, and we didn't remember to take any pictures, except these two, which aren't very good.
Finally, we went to Casa Roman, for more food, and more drinks. Not shown is a dish of fried cod.
The ubiquitous stuffed mushrooms, really good here
Pork shoulder
Pork cheeks (after one was eaten)

This evening was a lot of fun. We liked Casa Roman so much we went back there the next day. It turns out it was just around the corner from our hotel.
