Sunday Bonus: Tea Party

Our hotel has a fancy Afternoon Tea and we are going! This will be a chance to relax and take a break from all the walking tours. It’s right in the hotel lobby, so it is very convenient.

The theme of the tea is “Alice in Wonderland.”  Here is the menu:

The table was nicely decorated with a pocket watch and playing cards. There was a cruet on the table which contained a yellow liquid and had a tag that said “Drink Me.” We poured the yellow liquid into the waiting tumbler containig ice and something blue. Ta da! A green cocktail.

A multi-tiered tree-like cake stand soon arrived at our table with all sorts of creative cakes and sandwiches. And scones. Mustn’t forget the scones!

In addition to premium coffee and teas, we could choose Twining’s tea gummies - tiny flavored bears that dissolve and make tea. Yummy gummies.

The service was very good. The food was creative and beautiful. It wasn’t quite as good as it looked. It was incredibly sweet - more chocolate than cake. The cakes were all covered by gorgeous chocolate shells. The gold crowns, and just about everything else, were edible chocolate. The black bread, on one of the sandwiches, was awful. 

We went up to our room afterwards and we both went into a sugar coma and fell asleep for an hour or so. I think that is the most sugar I have ever eaten.
